Land And Water Conservation Fund Grant Applications Due Feb. 27, 2009
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking applications for the 2009 federal Land and Water Conservation Fund Program grants. Applications are due Feb. 27, 2009. Typical facilities eligible for funding require significant advanced planning and include: ball fields, campgrounds, golf courses, ice-skating ponds, picnic facilities, tennis courts, playground equipment, and hiking trails.

Are there really ghosts at Ghost Cave? will run from 6 p.m. until after dark Friday, Oct. 31, at the state park, six miles southeast of Billings on Coburn Road.
Regional Deer and Elk Outlook
Deer and elk hunters in north central Montana this fall will face a mixed bag. Deer numbers are as good on the Rocky Mountain Front as they have been in 10 years, while mule deer populations in the Little Belts are down. And elk are plentiful. In Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 4, prairie and mountains produce a mosaic of habitats with variable deer and elk populations.
